To Cook Rice
• Place the rice cooker on a dry, level, heat resistant surface. To avoid steam damage to cabinets, position the rice cooker so it is not directly under kitchen cabinets.
• Using the rice measuring cup provided, measure the desired amount of rice and pour into the pot*. One cup of uncooked rice will yield 2 cups of cooked rice. Note: The rice measuring cup provided is 160ml.
• Wash the rice in a container other than the rice pot. You will notice that during the first wash, the water is nearly the colour of milk. It contains starch that makes the rice sticky. To avoid it, continue to wash until water is relatively clear.
• Place the separator plate inside the cooking pot before adding rice and water; it prevents sticking of food after cooking.
• Put the washed rice in the cooking pot. Pour water in relative to amount of rice added. The water level for the rice to cook must be the ratio of 1:3 i.e., or one cup of rice the water should be 3 cups or more. The exact proportions change with the type of rice to be cooked. Different kinds of rice absorb water at different rates.
• Dry the outer side of the pot and place it gently in the body, rotating it once in position to be sure the rice pot is completely in contact with the heating element. Be sure to keep the outside of the pot clean.
• With the rice pot in position, plug the cord into an appropriate wall outlet and switch on the device and the cooker stays in warm mode once the power supply is given.
• To start cooking, switch the cook/warm knob on the front control panel to cooking mode. The indicator light switches from warm to cook mode.
• When the rice is cooked, the cook light will go off and the warm light will come on, similarly the control knob automatically switches to warm mode and it keeps the cooked food warm for 4hours.Let the rice remain covered in the unit to steam for 10 minutes in warm mode and becomes more flavourful.
